2019 Fall Season Info

Written by

We hope you are ready for another great Fall Ball season at Chaires. Games start Monday September 23rd.

Below you will find additional information regarding the upcoming Fall Season.

Inter-league

We are playing a good deal of inter-league games this season and we just wanted to remind you that it is important to maintain a high level of sportsmanship during these games.

Concession Stand

The Concession stand will be open each night at the park. It serves hot dogs, hamburgers and cheeseburgers. You can also purchase waters and Gatorade in addition to the family favorites like sunflower seeds, peanuts, and a variety of candy.
We can not run this stand without parent volunteers like you. If there are not enough volunteers, the stand will not be able to open.

Please use this link to access our SignUp Genius.

Umpires

Umpiring is one of the most difficult jobs on the baseball field. It is a challenge to find people who are willing to step onto the dirt and get behind the plate. But it is amazing how many people are willing to call the balls and strikes from behind the backstop and in the bleachers. Please be kind to your umpire. They are not professionals and are doing the best that they can. We are lucky to have a lot of very good ones at Chaires. If you disagree with a call, please remember the Golden Rule: Do unto umpires as you would have them do unto you.

We also wanted to update you regarding a policy we are putting in place for games where we don’t have an umpire.

The defensive teams manager or coach will ump from behind the mound with the caveat that he or she may not speak to or coach the pitcher while behind the mound as this would provide an unfair advantage. Instead, a coach or manager would be required to follow the typical procedure - call for time, when time is granted enter the field of play and consult with the pitcher, et al, one visit per inning, etc.

When there is an ump shortage, preference will be given the majors games over minors games.

If you have experience as an umpire or feel like you know baseball well enough to ump games, please let us know. We are always looking for parents who are interested in helping out. Umpires are paid $60 per game.

Annual Meeting

Wednesday September 18, is the Annual Chaires-Capitola Little League Board Meeting. It will begin at 7:00 at the Dorothy Cooper Spence Community Center located at the front of the baseball park (4768 Chaires Cross Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32317).
